Re: Today's Parallel Run TRAIN CONSISTS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN

It is a shame that Victoria's train looked like a rainbow as there are so
many carriages available for use.
I know there are speed restrictions and all that kind of humbug but a train
like

S.R.H.C.Gold Ex S.O.P cars, Murray, Goulburn, Werribee, Indi, Norman and
the Ae's all could have been used even though they are not all sitting cars
and most are air-condidtioned. What about the state cars and other special
vehicles??,
Norman would have been great to watch the action from the back of the
train.
I personally would rather have sat in a air-conditioned AE or an old S.O.P
car with the large windows rather than being cooped up in those pathetic
little tin cans of Bk.

During this time, is R 707 Going to make an appearance???

So I presume that S 313 brought back the sleeping cars and the coal wagon??
Can anyone confirm?

There should have been a little bit of leeway given to the group either to
delay the passes on that line, or to operate the wooden cars at a higher
speed as after all, its not like the groups are not paying for the railway.
For the price that preservation groups have to pay, a little bit of give
rather than take should be shown.
Looking back when the last two 38 class come down, way back in the history
books, It is a shame to see what has happened. It may also have been an
option to have a broad gauge train of wooden cars at Seymour to connect
with a high speed consist from Albury. This would have meant that the
slower train could have run from Seymour and then parallelled the 38 train
from there to Melbourne like they did for the Flying Scotsman but in the
reverse.
They could have had

By using this method of the three trains, the people wanting a full day out
get to leave early in the morning on their high speed consist and run all
the way to the border and then back to Seymour.
Even though this consist is air-condidioned, it would look much nicer than
the bk,s and they would also have the bonus of using Noman for viewing
which would be on the rear of the train.
The air-condidioned option is only from Melbourne to Wodonga to Seymour
where they then would transfer to the Wooden stock on platform 1 at
Seymour. Those people from the overnight train would have the option of
either staying in one of the air-conditioned Ae cars or going in to the
wooden stock.

The train on leaving Melbourne would have two or three empty wooden cars to
cater for those on the high speed option.

The S.G train and the high speed B.G train would have run together from
Wodonga to Seymour where they would have taken water while the
remarshalling was done and then the
Wooden train and the 38's would have run together from Seymour to
Melbourne.

This would have allowed the use of another type of engine (J 515) and
eliminated the use of the bks
By using the Ae and the BS or alike cars, the passengers would have had the
large windows to look out and see the action as well as go back to the
Norman car and watch the events unfolding.

This option would mean that not only did they get to run with the 38s for a
further distance, they also got a longer tour.

The R class train in the end would provide a great host to listen to all 4
steam engines working together as you could go up to the Yarra car located
at the top of the consist, stand in the bce car with its doors open or
listen through the open windows of the wooden cars.
You could also have a cool drink at the back of the train in the Norman
car.

These three simple consists would provide ample accommodation and added
extras to meet the largest railfans heart.

I have just been thinking and thought of this way to get over the problem
that the steel cans have given us.
I think of it this way that if we in Victoria did not have the BK cars,
what would we have done then??
It is a pure shame that we have so many working examples of historic and
special cars that can run at the hight speed but are not used because their
windows do not open or for some pathetic reason.
If the above had of happened, I think you would have had a great day.

The remaining cars would be picked up by S 313

(WHAT DOES ANYONE THINK? RESPONSE TO THIS IS MORE THAN WELCOME.
I KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE A HELL OF A LOT OF WORK BUT NOT AS MUCH AS IF THIS
ABOVE PLAN HAD OF BEEN FOLLOWED USING MAINLY S.R.H.C AND STEAMRAIL STOCK.
THESE CONSISTS ALSO FOLLOW A BASIC COULOIR PATTERN OF EITHER

- RED for the Steamrail wooden stock
- V/R BLUE AND GOLD for the air-condidtioned stock (Eg Ae, Bs, Indi,
Werribe, Ovens,)
- Special Car Livery (E.g. Norman)

The Southern Aroura stock would only have been used on the night train and
returned empty.

What do people think>?

Kind Regards
