This would involve shunting it off every morning, and shunting it off every
afternoon. Although it would free up one XAM.

The faster running of an XPT over an Xplorer means that this service could
depart Sydney later. NT23 used to depart from Sydney at 1135, due mainly to
the fact that it worked to Glen Innes and Tenterfield (so the arrival times
had to be acceptable) and also the fact that a DEB set connected at Werris
Creek (being slower then an Xplorer so arrival in Moree had to be
acceptable).

It shoudl be possible to have a departure time for NT23 of around the midday
mark, thus allowing for late running.

You would still need six sets to work NT1/2/3/4 and ST1/2/3/4, 1 set to work
WT27/28, which would leave you with one set only to work NT23/24 - where
will the other set come from?
