The 'up' metro goods line saw a fair bit of congestion this afternoon
between Meeks Road and Marrickville stations this afternoon between 4:30
and 5:00. I chanced to be returning home at the time, when the Austrac
service was stopped at the signals at Meeks Road waiting a clearance to
go to Cook's River and beyond. Unfortunately, I did not see the motive
power on the train, although there were some long conflats in Austrac
livery (Russet type red with yellow lettering). The wagons were coded
'EOJX'or 'EQJX' (not sure). I think they could be rebadged Silverton
wagons. At the down end of Marrickville station, 42210 was idling at the
junction between the Botany and Illawarra branches of the Metro Goods,
while less than 30 seconds later 7301 in Countrylink livery was slowing
down half way between Dulwich Hill and M'ville (no doubt returning to the
XPT centre).
I hope this is of interest.
Scott
