The passengers at Central were Countrylink passengers for Canberra. They were stranded as well. The steam trip was to pick up at Ashfield. It was a charter for Western Suburbs Leagues Club.
 
The Canberra train was ready to leave Eveleigh before anybody realised that the depot had been completely isolated by the trackwork.

For those that were waiting lineside this morning the steam trip with 3830-------4401 was cancelled at the last minute. I'm told that the train was not allowed to run because of trackwork. Hundreds of irate would be passengers were waiting at Central.
