More drama at Exeter(the WP2 saga)
Aus loco discussion mailing list
At 0557 this morning 1WP2 was taking off from the down accept at Exeter when
the train pulled an auto out of the fifth wagon, a coil steel wagon.
WP2 had NR2+18+29+(DL44d/a)52 trucks 889m 3814tonnes
Once the train was proteced it waited at Exeter for Bundanoon to be cut in
WP2 left at 0732 shunted the five trucks and d/a DL into the down refuge then
when the crew went to cut in NR29 they discovered that the brake stand was
faulty and had to drive from the middle unit back to Exeter wrong road for the
rest of it's train.
Meanwhile 7MB4 with NR70+26 pulled up at the back half of WP2 to try to remove
the broken auto which was still coupled to the rear portion of the train.WP2
then pulled up at Exeter again to release a handbrake that had been missed and
then it left for Bundy at 0921.When it arrived at Bundy it was put across to
the Up Main. Then SN37 was refuged at Moss Vale for SP19 which ran through about
5" late followed by SN37 which terminated at Bundy then travelled wrong road
from Bundanoon to Moss Vale as SN44. By the time SN44 got to
Moss Vale ST3 came through now 30" late once it had cleared Bundy WP2 shunted
the DL back onto its train and then departed at 1114hrs.
Delays amounted to 1WP2-320", 7MB4-19", ST3-30", SP19-5", SN37-34", SN44-18",
PW4-64" WLC at Medway Junction for WP2
Also NY3 - 1150/1209 - NR54+118+20 (waited for Bundy to cut out for lunch)
WL4 - 0928 - NR27
PW4 - 1150 - NR90+47
So apart from that all was quiet at Exeter today.
On the south Danny
