Aus loco discussion mailing list
Afternoon All
With an on time departure from Melbourne and a good run SL 66 arrived at
Wodonga about an 45 early, while waiting for a signalman to be found to
work the train through, an inspection of the loco,s revealed that 4514
had an overheated suspension bearing !, due too the possible serious
damage this could cause it was decided to cut the engine off at Albury
to effect repairs at a later date, With the signalman now in place the
train worked from Wodonga through to Albury at reduced speed, the
Raver's decanted from the train, which then worked over into the loop,
the 45 cut off and placed out of the way, 10 early, ST 4 rolled in
behind 2008 had its photo taken standing beside the 422 and departed,
42219 then placed the train back onto the platform to await BM 2 , which
rolled through at 1155 with the bell on the lead loco ringing, which
kids both large and small loved, with the last of the Ravers loaded the
train was away at 1205, with all the tabled crossings out of the way,
and the late running WP 2, 100,s of kilometres away, 42219 made an easy
job of running to Junee, to be only 15 behind the table, a quick stop
to drop off the driver who worked the train through Victoria, and she
roared out of the station and up the grades and out of sight, another
great day on the south.
Yours, Pete Kilburn BTW
Junee
