Darren,

Thank you for your show of faith - but iunfortunately I have to say that I
haven't a clue. The Victorian train numbering system has never turned me on,
partly because I never understood it and partly because I could not fathom
why a train running say between Adelaide and Melbourne should have two
number in the course of its journey. With the formation of ARTC and take up
of Vic train control functions the use of the Vic train numbering system for
interstate services seems total superflous.

On the other hand, I seem to remember that Darren has just as strong a
dislike for the ARTC numbering system.

Further discussion on this topic perhaps should be via personal e-mail.

Cheers

Mark
