RE: Cowra-Blayney

Aus loco discussion mailing list

The new Holmwood Bridge is made of steel and reinforced concrete. My contact
at the "Cowra Guardian" expects the ballast train to run today but he didn't
know what time. They won't be covering it but he was quick to point out some
railfans would be about to take pictures. Any likely Cowra boys/girls on the
list might have more info.

Regards,
Brad

The old Holmwood bridge was of timber construction. Is the replacement
also timber or is it a new bridge constructed of non - combustible
materials ....

Does anyone plan to get a photo?

According to the "Cowra Guardian" last Friday (3/12), the first train over
the just completed Holmwood Bridge (supposedly finished on 3/12) was to
occur some time today (Monday 6/12). The front page news story said the
train would be made up of 22 NDFF wagons containing ballast and a
ploughvan.
Total weight is 1720 tonnes. The news report did not indicate type or
number
of the locomotive.

Brad
