>From what I've heard from the crews the 81's are preferred over the 82's.
They have stopped rostering the 82's as far as possible on the limestone
trains(2261+2260 excluded, lighter load) because in the rain they have a
tendency to stick up on Wingello bank. Also I'd like to put my money on the
81's making it to there destination. An 82 failed on the first through
Melbourne run of SM2 and there have been 2x 82 class failures in the last
couple of months, due to inaccurate fuel gauges and the loco running out of
fuel.
But having said that I will report on an 81 class failure in my regular "on
the south" report.
