Re: [Ausloco] Freight Australia in Cowra District
Just a few corrections to Lawrence Ryans posting.
9381 arrived Koorawatha behind G543 / G522 / G542 / T390 / T399 / T409.T409
having been picked up at Harden on the way down. The last 12 VHAF's were
placed in the Silo road for loading and the train with all six units and 28
trucks then proceeded to Cowra arriving at 0350. After detaching the G's and
running the T's around the load the train departed for Greenethorpe at
approx 0500. The G's were then stabled in the yard to work D982 that
afternoon.
The G's in the following order G522 / G542 / G543 departed Cowra light to
Koorawatha were the T's were waiting on the Grenfell branch with the 28
loaded trucks ex Greenethorpe. After arrival of the G's the T's pulled the
loaded trucks into the yard and the G's were then attached to the Young end
of the load. The T's then picked up the 12 loaded trucks from the Silo road
and placed them on the rear of the train. After brake tests and safeworking
formalities were completed 3982 departed for Port Kembla with what was the
largest train ever to run off the Cowra line 2959 tonnes , 38 loads 1 m/t 1
part loaded for 662 meters total train length. The three T's then ran light
to Cowra to stable until the arrival of 9381 on Thursday morning. Another
one of many firsts for Freight Australia in New South Wales. There was quite
a collection of rail fans at Koorawatha to witness the departure of 3982.
