RE:[Ausloco] SAR 500 class multiple unit ?

Hello Ben,
The 500 Class were unable to multiple unit with Alco and EMD built units as they had a 10 notch throtle control and not an 8 notch control like the EMD and ALCo control stands.

This has somewhat changed in recent years all be it though in Tasmania with the 2 rebuilt ZB's (ZB9 - 2100 and ZB6 - 2101 being rebuilt and fitted with an 8 notch desk top controler instead of the old 10 notch EE control.

I hope this is able to help you out.

Best Wishes,
Daven (Woodrow) Walters.

Hi

Apologies for the wrong subject heading.

Just wondering, harking back to the topic of ability of various locos to
m.u. a few months back- could an SAR 500 and 800 class m.u. ? I assume the
500 wasn't capable of m.u.-ing with a 930 (despite its American looks) and
shots of 930s leading 500s on trains are with the 500 dead attached ?

Cheers

Ben
