G'day all,
I have it on good authority that at least one of the L class ended up with
some "flat" wheels whilst on said test run down the hill. Where are the
dynamics then if the wheels ain't revolving?
Also, on same "authority", the chokes would have had to be modified on the
wagons as they were found wanting also!

One test load of 72 tonnes per wagon, down the hill towards Port Kembla was
supposed to have caused the
crew some concern. I heard that the thing would not stop, and if it was not
for the fact that the Dynamics held, they worried that it was going to run
away! I did hear this second hand, but my source also added that all the
hoppers were being modified to change the leverage of the brake gear, to
improve the braking of this train. Rod
