HEllo all,
Last night, while on my way into Sydney, I witnessed a very
busy 3 minute passage of trains on the Metro Goods Line around
Marrickville station and the nearby junctions.
First up was 4861/4851 with a long trip train on the down goods line at
8.19 p.m. This train crossed 48163/48132 on the UP with 4 freshly painted
AMPOL oil tanks behind, about 500m on the Down side of the station. The
last train was halted, presumably to let 8257/8165/81??/8245 on a down
empty coal come through on the Illawarra underpass line at Meeks Rd
Junction. The final sighting was the tail of a container train moving at
speed down the grade to Cooks River from the Sydenham flyover of the
Botany Line, which occured at 8.22 p.m. All in all, a very hectic and
satisfying few minutes of train watching. I hope this is useful
Scott
