Back again,
NR46 is running around with simply "46" on the driver's side whilst there
are still some other units with small numbers. I have not kept a record of
them, but there are at least 5.
Also, the NR's on the Melb/Adel run seem to be less weathered than those on
the Melb/Syd/Bris viz NR1-12 and NR61-71 (or thereabouts). WE have had NR81
& NR85 running thru Bargo for the past week or so and the painwork is still
remarkably quite good, likewise those from 100-120 seem to be is good cond.
I guess with the impending sale of National Rail they aren't too concerned
with their paint work. What ever happened to the 30 or so repaints that RSA
had won a contract for several years ago? They have done a handfull of
BL/DL/AN/81 class, but nowhere near 30 units. Pity they have not got the FV
attitude towards their public image as far as promotion of their identity
goes.
Oh, Austrac's "Air train" was thru here @ 0756 as Peter Kilburn posted
previously, with only 4 20ft boxes on board.
Bye for now, Ivar
