NRR 42206

Aus loco discussion mailing list

 Hi group,

How does the hauling power of the 421 & 422 compare with the 44 ? I have all
the books here with the data such as house power etc but in the "real world"
were the 44 , 421 & 422 interchangable as to hauling power?

The 44 was allowed 650 tons [pre metric] up the 1/50 from Byron Bay to
Bangalow.

I don't have the load in tons for the usual NRR passenger set but the usual
power is 2x421.

Would a single 422 do the job of hauling the NRR passenger set up the 1 in
50 from Byron Bay to Bangalow?

There are several short 1/50 spots around the tunnels between Mullumbimby
and M'bah.

Similar with the 1 / 50 to the Naughtons Gap tunnel just out of Casino.

Cheers
Peter
