Re: X45 numberplates
Aus loco discussion mailing list
Chris,
Freshly painted G533 (in Freight Australia livery) is also missing its
numberplates. Both X45 and G533 had missing cast numberplates before they
were repainted green. In X45's case, its numberplates were painted on the
side of the cab when it was repainted into the V/Line Freight livery in
1996.
In regard to G533, before it was repainted green, it sported a crude
stenciled painted number on the side of the unit. This 'stencil-painted
numberplate' (for the want of a better term), did not have a white painted
outline. Other units with 'stencil-painted numberplates' include X38, S301,
S306, S307, S310. I am sure that there are/were others.
I believe that green X40 is also missing its numberplates - this unit had
the stencil-painted version when it was still in V/Line colours.
Regards,
Jason.
