Looping messages

Hi,

The reason why we keep getting multiple copies of that message is, that it
seems that Tim Hurst has a "vacation" file set on his mail server. Part of
the fault lies within the mail server at his end, and this mailing list.
When a vacation file is set on a server, it is meant to go to the original
sender of the message (i.e. the person listed in the "From" header) rather
than the Return Address (i.e. the "Reply-To:" header). The mail server in
this instance is sending it to the "Reply-To:" address.

As a result, his message is coming back to this mailing list, and his
client keeps replying to his replies. Unless stopped, it keeps on going.

A lot of mailing list packages on the other hand, add a header to a
message, which it detects if it comes back (i.e. "X-Loop" or
X-MailingList-Loop" or similar). I am not 100% sure as to how this works,
but it stops loops in this case.

As the person below writes "piss this jerk off quickly". Chances are, he
does not even know this is happening, and none of the fault should be
placed on him, rahter, that the mail server is taking the wrong information
to send vacation messages to.

Hope this helps, all flames can be directed to /dev/null.

Thanks
Michael.
