The answer is very simple.

Tim has set his mail server to reply with that standard message to
every email that arrives at his inbox.

So his server replies to a "sightings" message which goes out to the
sightings list of which he is a member and then that advice comes
straight back into his inbox where it generates another standard
message which goes out to the sightings list of which he is a member
and then that advice comes straight back into his inbox where it
generates another standard message which goes out to the sightings
list of which he is a member and then that advice comes straight back
into his inbox where it generates another standard message which goes
out to the sightings list of which he is a member and then that advice
comes straight back into his inbox where it generates another standard
message which goes out to the sightings list of which he is a
member....... you get the picture <g!>

I've rung the number and they've turned off the server, but the
simplest thing to do is for Brian and/or David to remove Tim from the
sightings list until 12 November.

Regards

Yuri
