Just as an aside, I was on the return of the RTM tour from Newcastle with 3830 this evening, which was running somewhat late due
to earlier foul ups on the Down trip, when a literal fleet of empty car V sets were run to Newcastle to accomodate local football supporters going
to Sydney for the big game at Homebush stadium. (I believe there were 8 empty sets!).
After a 50 min late deparure from Newcastle, we experienced a fairly brisk run to Gosford (given speed limitations of the end platform set), then refuged for an up Intercity and Down XPT. The highlight though, was at West Ryde, where BY4, with 3 NR's up front, was refuged on the Up suburban (or is it main ? I can never fathom that Epping-W. Ryde track configuration), to allow 3830 to overtake at speed on the outside track.
Superfreighter gives right of way to steam - excellent! :-)
Cheers,
