V/Line provides great fare deal and late night train services to take people home from Colonial Stadium

V/Line will provide additional services to get people home from night football matches and selected special events at Colonial Stadium.

"We want to make sure that country people can make the most of everything Colonial Stadium has on offer," said Katie O’Shea, Communications Manager. "Good value, comfortable and convenient train services will make it that much easier."

To give people even more of an excuse to visit Colonial Stadium, V/Line is also offering a day return Colonial Stadium Off Peak Fare on nominated days.

The fare provides a 10% reduction off the already heavily-discounted Off-Peak Saver Return fare (conditions apply). Tickets must be purchased and paid for by 8pm the day before travel and can be purchased from any staffed V/Line Station or by calling 136 196 between 7am and 9pm every day.

The timing of late night services will be tailored to each event. For the footy match between Essendon and Port Adelaide on Thursday 9 March, additional late night services will depart from Spencer Street Station as follows:

23:03 stopping at Little River, Lara, Corio, North Shore, North Geelong, Geelong

23:00 stopping at Melton, Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Ballarat

23:06 stopping at Sydenham, Diggers Rest, Sunbury, Clarkefield, Riddells Creek, Gisborne, Macedon, Woodend, Kyneton, Malmsbury, Castlemaine, Bendigo

23:00 stopping at Craigieburn, Donnybrook, Wallan, Heathcote Junction, Wandong, Kilmore East, Broadford, Tallarook, Seymour

23:00 stopping at Nar Nar Goon, Tynong, Garfield, Bunyip, Longwarry, Drouin, Warragul, Yarragon, Trafalgar, Moe, Morwell, Traralgon

For the match between St Kilda and Sydney on Sunday 12 March, additional late night services will depart from Spencer Street Station as follows:

22:38 stopping at Melton, Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Ballarat

V/Line will trial the new services for a period of two months to test their popularity.

V/Line Passenger is the principal operator of passenger rail and road coach services in regional Victoria with major rail routes running to Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Swan Hill, Echuca, Albury-Wodonga and Sale. Ticket conditions Colonial Stadium tickets are on sale from 7 March 2000.

They are valid for return travel from selected stations to Melbourne on nominated days when an event is being held at Colonial Stadium.
Colonial Stadium Off Peak fares are available for travel on train services only. Tickets are for same day travel only. Break of journey is not permitted.
Tickets are valid for off-peak services only ie weekday trains arriving in Melbourne after 9:30am and leaving Melbourne before 4:00pm and after 6:00pm and all services on nominated Saturdays and Sundays.

Tickets are valid for travel on Mondays and Fridays on Bendigo, Swan Hill, Albury and Sale services when an event is being held at Colonial Stadium.
Tickets must be purchased and paid for at the latest by 8pm the day before travel. Tickets can be purchased at any staffed V/Line station.
Tickets can also be purchased by calling 136 196 between 7am and 9pm every day.

Passengers should allow 7 days for tickets to reach them by post. Tickets are only valid for economy class travel. No upgrades to First Class are allowed. Refunds, exchange or replacement tickets are not permitted with these fares.
