Iron Hill is a large fixed position multi-national HO-OO scale layout of the dog bone design. The two main
lines on the bottom level allow continual running with sidings at the stations to hold trains and allow through
running. The upper level is of single line with a passing loop and yards. One end shows a village area with a
farm, factory and engine shed.
At the other end there is a coal mine, industrial area and small village. Both
levels are connected by ramps. The buildings used on Iron Hill are mostly cardboard type from Metcalfe or Superquick
with some plastic kits being used. Woodlands Scenics is being used along with home made materials and strip wood.
Being a multi-national layout makes for some very interesting train running. For it is possible at times to see models
from Australia, America, Britain and Europe all running at the same time.
