The tunnels heading SOUTH from St. James (later fitted out as air-raid
shelters) end at around Park Street.
IIRC, there is a tunnel under Oxford Street. It's a relic of the Busby's
Bore Water Supply Scheme which brought water to the City from the reservoir
at Centennial Park. It was superseded by the Nepean / Prospect water scheme
(c.1915?). [Sorry, it would take ages to look up the details!]

This "Inner Circle" line ends at about the corner of Bent and O'Connell
Streets. The original route was (in part) to be Oxford Square - St. James -
O'Connell St. - Town Hall (platforms later used for current ESR) - inner
western suburbs.
