Re: Do-Do diesel locomotives in Oz

In response to the original question "Are/were there any locomotives in
Australia with a Do-Do wheel configuration", the answer is no. The closest
would be the West Australian X/XA/XB class locomotives which have a 2-Do-2
wheel configuration.

In Queensland, the original 2350 class English Electric's were designed to
be Bo-Bo+Bo-Bo. Apparently, the then QGR was not happy with this wheel
config so they were manufactured with Co-Co arrangements. This is why there
is a large overhang in the bogie recess and it is believed this is also why
they suffered from wheel slip (the power output was designed to cope with
the extra weight of four separate bogies).
