NORTHERN RIVERS RAILROAD

Hello!

Greetings from Okemos, Michigan USA! David Bromage suggested I try some
questions on the newsgroup.

On the basis of a trip to Australia my wife and I completed in 1997, my
unofficial title is "Goanna Den".

We are planning our second trip for your spring of 2000. Instead of riding
the trains as we did in '97, we plan to rent cars and do some chasing....as
well as some more train riding.

I love cab units and have since I saw my first one in 1946 (age 8 then). I
even have 4,000# of EMD cab in our basement, to run my O gauge model trains
from.

One of my wishes, is to take slides of the Northern Rivers Railroad 42 class
cab units. Can anyone help me with where the units are kept? Casino? Are
they in a regular service, or just used on special trains? Is there someone
I can contact at Northern Rivers regarding permission to photograph them?

I also found a thread which suggests there are 3 of the 44 class Alcos on a
"Rothbury Riot" Railway, but I have no idea where that is. Can someone
point me in the right direction?

Also, are there any subscribers to the newsgroup who might be interested in
trading slides for some USA subjects?

I would enjoy hearing from someone down under.....we had an absolutely
superb 36 days in Australia. My only regret is not being able to find
Victoria Bitters here in the states.....good stuff!

Thanks much!

Denny Custer
