Yesterday (Friday 1999-10-22) decided to go to Douglas park by train (silly
idea!) to look at the final stages of the cleanup. Found the following:
1. Wynyard - no signs or announcements re buses between Campbelltown &
Picton.
2. On the 1049h Wynyard - Campbelltown, normally the "sweeper" for the 1115h
Endeavour Sydney Central - Moss vale: No announcement re buses.
3. Campbelltown - train arrived about 17 mins late at abt 1205h, due 1148h -
no signs directing passengers to buses, one announcement which was
meaningless to anyone not familiar with the station.
4. Bus which should have substituted for Endeavour set already gone - next
in 1 hour! Asked staff doing bus dispatch why they didn't wait for arrival
of advertised connecting train - "signal box didn't tell us it was running
late"! They could have actively sought this info, surely, or just looked to
see whether it was in the platform - guess they're not paid enough/not
intelligent enough to think of doing such a customer-friendly thing!
Fortunately, after much verbal protest by self and others, a bus was found.
There were passengers for the Canberra XPL, amongst others.
5. Up bus ex Douglas Park replacing 1544h train arrived about 35 mins late.
