Exhibition Street Bridge and City Link

The bridge over the railway lines know as Exhibition Street Bridge (later to
be called Batman Ave) will be opened very soon.  (Like days)

This is the bridge which carries tram 70.  It is part of city link and carries
a toll.  It will open toll free, as the toll system still doesn't work.  Batman
Ave from Swanston Street to Swan St Bridge was closed a couple of weeks ago.

With regard to City link the problem is that there is not enough time for the
system to scan the car send the info off, process it and send it back.  The
scanning of the car works, the getting information on the car (like money left,
number plate etc) works and sending the data back works.  The major problem is
by the time it has done all this the car has gone.  It all takes too long to
process.  The system is designed for speeds of around 40 km/h for time to 
process everything, it just doesn't have the time (around 1 second) to 
process everything at 100 km/h.  

The more you look at City Link the more it looks like the problems with the
West Gate Bridge (but not the disaster on 15/10/1970).
West Gate Bridge orginal cost $20 Million tolls for 40 years
Final cost over $200 Million tolls didn't last long, it didn't work.

Wait and see for City Link.
