West London rail crash



Hi there

At 0811 hrs BST (1711hrs AEST) the 0603 up Cheltenham HST and the 0806 down
Bedwyn DMU collided just west of Ladbroke Grove tube station, 2 miles west
of London Paddington. Latest reports are that 8 people have died and that
160 people have injuries requiring hospital treatment and of these 79 are
serious. At least one car of the HST set burst into flames and it was this
car in which most of dead were seated. The HST was slowing down for
Paddington station and was only travelling at about 70 MPH (115 KPH) when
the collision occured. The DMU would probably have been travelling at a
similar speed. News reports also state that the HST had derailed just before
