Platform 1 was used during the grade seperation stageworks.

Box Hill used to be a 3 Platform Station, with Goods yard on the South side.
First stage of the grade seperation was to abolish the Yard, and 3rd platform,
and all points at the down end. The 3rd track from Camberwell then finished
(Crossover & 1 turnout) at the Up end of the Station. The new Platform 1 (Up
Trains only) was excavated, built, and slewed in. The next stage was Platform 2
(for Down Trains). Once this had been completed, the old surface level station
was removed, and the excaation completed. Eventually the station you see today
was the result.

Keeps people on their toes. |-)

Up?... Sorry, I dunno.
