Orbost line Extension Recommended

The Railways Standing Committee has recommended to the Legislative Assembly
an extension of the Orbost line into East Gippsland.The proposed extension
is about six miles in length,to the West bank of the Broadribb River,and the
estimated cost is 77,708 pounds.It is stated that the flat country near the
coast is favourable to cheap railway construction and operation owing to the
easy grades and curves,the country becoming hilly and mountainous the
farther reaches from the coast.
