The start of an anti-tram push in Sydney can be fairly accurately
dated to an editorial in the Daily Telegraph in 1922, with "The Tele"
maintain an anti-tram stance fairly constantly after that.  Successive
state governments of both labour and conservative persuasions oversaw
the dismantling of the 2nd generation Sydney tramway system(s) over a
period of a little over two decades between circa 1939 and 1961.
