Re: Australian Railway Digest (was NSW Railway Digest)

That is almost the whole point at issue, is it not?

IF it is true that NSW news is not reduced by the inclusion of
interstate material, then the NSW-centric people really would have
nothing to complain about (unless the cost per issue is increased) -
they can just skip the parts they're not interested in and be no worse
off.

However IF there is a reduction in the NSW content to accommodate the
interstate material, there may be much more cause for complaint.

My impression - quite unresearched - is that there HAS been a
considerable reduction in NSW material, especially feature articles. Mr
Ferguson's opinion is clearly opposite to this. Is it practicable to
obtain objective evidence on this point?

The other question, reasonably objective in nature, is why it appears
that some other publications - notably Peter Neve's excellent Railway
News - seem to include substantial material which Digest does not
contain, but which perhaps it would have contained in years past. Again,
if this is true, some people may legitimately complain; if it is not
true, it would be nice to dispel the false impression.
