Re: Australian Railway Digest (was NSW Railway Digest)

I have no issues at all with NSW Digest becoming Oz Digest, more so
since I come from somewhere outside NSW. I enjoy the magazine, find the
mix of articles and sightings to be reasonable - although ii any case I
tend to skip over the reports of consuecutively numbered 48s working to
Cobar or whatever - and especially like to see articles on locations in
"other" states. The article in the November edition on Stuart is a case
in point. I cannot vouch for the accuracy, but I have never spent any
time railfanning in that area and now feel I have some useful
information to go on.

However, if the mag is to become truly Australian care needs to be
taken to avoid NSW-centric text. An example is the caption on p7 of the
November issue, where it states that the operation railing logs between
Queanbeyan and Port Kembla is "the first intrastate rail service
operated by the Melbourne-based private operator". We are
talking Freight Victoria here, and they have been running intrastate
services since they began operations - but only in Victoria.

Cheers...JD
