This project could have major impacts on both freight and passenger traffic. 
They are talking about Thousands of new jobs, and increasing the population of
the town by TEN thousand - that would double its size.  WCR would be looking at
the potential increase in passenger patronage from such a massive population
grawith.  Too bad the Warrnambool line doesn't run through to Portland eh.

Apparently this project is no pie in the sky either - its a done deal.  The
wisdom of connecting Portland to the SG network could pay off for rail.  Then
again, maybe this was a factor in securing the investment.
