The new cab has in fact made it a useless loco.This is a 35 ,not 45
class that had a modified cab that was already approved by the PTU to
be used as a leading unit. These twits have destroyed the original cab
in an attempt to replace it with a home made Pilbara style cab. I'm
told the home made cab has been rejected by the PTU for many reasons
one of which is lack of saftey for the crew in the event of a
collision.The only problem with the 45 cab was they were banned as
leading units as they were draughty in the cab. Some 45s and all the
35s were modified to overcome this problem."Hats off to Austrac"? What
for? This has been their biggest stuff up to date. As I understand it,
work has been suspended on this loco. I suspect it will eventually just
end up as parts for other locos.

Found one at Junee roundhouse last weekend. I wonder, with the
new cab, will that make the 45's a usefull loco? - or was there
other major problems with them. Hats off to Austrac for doing it.
Then they will have far more locos to use.>
