Tumut line is a mess these days.

Line is still intact from Coolac to Gundagai .
Fairly sure that Coota to Coolac is also intact although the
junction at Coota is gone.

South of Gundagai to Tumblong , a lot of the line is gone , mainly as
the new Hume Highway runs along the top of it.
Tumblong to Mt Horeb is intact, except for a few bridges.
Mt Horeb to Gilmore is mainly still intact , except for a few low bridges .
Gilmore to Tumut is intact , as is Gilmore to Batlow.
Lat time I was at Gilmore , there was something resembling a station , in that
there was still a signal box and signals.

It would be good to reopen this line to serve the new paper mill at Tumut, but
realistically I cant see it happening.
The Murrumbidgee River bridge will be the killer.
Originally 44s and lighter were allowed to Gundagai,so this bit of the line
must be reasonable weight rail.

If you are going to go as far as Batlow, then you may as well go a bit further
south to Tumbarumba and follow that line back to Tarcutta.
