There have been more recent reports that it is working. It may have been
temporarily disconnected. I doubt the performance would change much on a
3-4 car pass anyway.

I concur with the previous quotes about Oberg's book. It's riddled with
errors, some of which have been perpetuated into two subsequent editions.
