The train was quite a good length for the Overland and the consist included a container flat trailing the motor rail vehicle presumably because of the motor vehicle loading out of Melbourne. This latter vehicle stood accross the Angas Road Hawthorn Crossing.
The Overland had not moved by 20:00, the loco apparently having come to grief.
It was not until 21:00 or so that other trains began to move on the line so presumably the Overland had been taken to Belair (pushed? any NR people out there who know?).
It made quite a change for the little group of train watchers who gather at Mitcham station on Sunday evenings to watch the procession of trains.
Cheers
