Up to 8 cars - no other rail system in Australia runs 8 car twin-deck
trains. Except for Melbourne's Tangara clone, all other systems are
single-deck trains in two or 3 car set configurations.

Most platforms accomodate an 8-car set, and others are longer still. Some
platforms are grossly curved (such as Waverton and Wollstonecraft on the
North Shore line), and others don't curve much, but there's so much physical
infrastructure that you can't see all the way along without getting off the
train and going for a short walk.

Not all of them, but because of the higher population, bigger socio-economic
mix, etc. etc. etc we get a much higher proportion of troublesome passengers
than other systems do.

Craig.
