Geoff Lambert has cleared up what chert is & what the Aborigines used it for. So: Was the so-called "Chert Incline" built for mining/quarrying chert, and if so, what was it used for by European settlers? Or was the incline named because of the presence of chert, but used for the hauling of coal, timber or some other commodity?
