Re: Sydney Trams

On a recent visit to Sydney I couldn't get over how narrow road lanes and
main streets are. Seems it would be sensible to remove any non-bridge/tunnel
traffic from Pitt & other streets and replace with trams - linking the CBD
with Central and Circular Quay in a more efficient way than the amusement
ride known as the Monorail, and the SLR which doesn't serve populated
(residential) zones and skirts around the edge of one side of the city. Get
rid of the car parking facilities, and you would soon be rid of cars - as
some European cities have done, providing car parking further out along
tram routes, and making the cost of tram travel very cheap.
Ultimately a tram service linking Darling Harbour with The Rocks and the
Opera House would help the tourists and locals get around. Actually -
replace the whole bloody network as it was would improve Sydney's
livability.
