On a somewhat related topic, in the late 1970s when the V sets were being
designed, NSWGR wanted a replacement for the IHOs for Newcastle parcels
traffic. Comeng designed a double ended parcels motor using the basic
shell of a V set motor car. It had two BIG double doors on each side,
platform level floor throughout and ceiling space to the upper deck roof
height. All Newcastle express trains would have been a 4-car V set plus a
parcels motor. The Fish would also have had one attached.
