Victorian Closed Stations near Melbourne.



A recent discussion regarding Melbourne's second grade stations prompted
someone to ask for a list of stations located within 100 km of
Melbourne, but not on closed lines, that have been closed. This list is
based on a list of names supplied by Krel (I think). I have added others
I could think of and I think the following is a complete list of all
stations that have closed:-

as Dysart from 5 December 1904. Not to be confused with Dysart Defence

Lyndhurst, Clyde, Tooradin,
Monomeith, 4 October 1981 (when local Dandenong-Cranbourne & Lang Lang
RM service cancelled. None were reopened when Leongatha RC service
resumed in Dec 1984.)
Dalmore, 6 June 1981 (with closure of Yarram service)

Cremorne 22 December 1860 (when line extended to
 Windsor)
Sandown Park (1st station) 16 May 1955 (present station is on same
 Site & opened 19 June 1965.)
Punt Road (Richmond 1st) 8 Feb 1859-12 Dec 1859.
Swan Street (Richmond 2nd) 12 Dec 1859-1885
Richmond 3rd (High level) 1885-26 March 1960 (opening and closing
overlapped
Richmond 4th (High level) 8 Nov 1959- still open.
Richmond Park bet Burnley & Heyington. Constructed but not opened?
Glen Waverley (1st station) 24 Feb 1964.
Lalor (1st station) 5 Aug 1952.
Epping (1st station) 29 Nov 1959 (present Epping open 30 Nov 1964)
Fawkner (1st station) 13 Jul 1903 at 14km. Present stn at 13.2km opened
10 Dec 1906.
Campbellfield. 5 May 1956.
North Campbellfield, 5 May 1956 (site of Upfield opened 17 Aug 1959)
Williamstown Old Pier stn 8 Jan 1905 replaced by Williamstown (New) Pier
station closed 25 Mar 1987.
