But there was an enormous timber mill, the Philips/Pye conglomeration,
and all the industry in the Symonds St/Upper Mt Eden Rd area. The timber
mill site is up for major redevelopment. You will see big changes here soon,
just
as New Lynn is changing with the old brickwork sites being covered with
what the real estate agents call 'desirable residences'.

And the number of people travelling has increased so much since the DMUs
went on stream the whole line is to be double tracked. At the moment
there are capacity problems since there are no passing loops AFAIK between
Avondale and Henderson.
