They still produce a lot less air pollution than diesel buses.  It was
a big mistake for Boston to convert trolleybuses to diesels in the
1950s and 60s.  Because Boston did this, areas of the city now served
extensively by diesel buses, such as Roxbury, have elevated levels of
respiratory disease.
