Victoria Finally Adopts Modern Safeworking

SW 1045/99 advises all and sundry that:

On Tuesday 6 April after the passage of train 8412 between Traralgon and
Sale, Train Order working will be abolished and Train Staff and Ticket
will replace it.  Train 8407 will be the first train to run on the
Staff.

They're the important details anyway.

Now that is appears to be true, I might pass on another rumour which I
heard a month or so back.  The first part is well known, i.e. if ARTC
abolishes SAW/ASW on the plains line, then VLF will abolish the rest of
the SAW/ASW territory, and replace it with train order working.  The
second part didn't make it to this newsgroup: because the train
controllers workload for Train Order is higher than SAW, to free up the
workload in other areas would be done by replacing TO with TST in
certain corridors including :beyond Traralgon, South Geelong,
Shepperton, and possibly Ouyen.  Whether its true only time will tell,
but TST to Sale might be only the first step?
