Re: MELBOURNE TRAMS - BATMAN AVENUE LINE

: I notice today that the first poles for overhead wiring have now been
: erected. About 10 are in place. The remainder of the poles are lying
: next to the track ready to be planted. They appear to be centre poles
: rather than side poles with span-wires. There are no brackets on the
: poles yet.

The poles have been up for a couple of weeks now, there are two groups
one is right down near Richmond Station they are sort of centre span, I
say sort of since at this point there are three tracks (one is a loop)
There is one track south of the poles and two north.

The second group is near the bridge and the poles are on both sides of
the track since this is where a ~75 deg corner there.

They have the tracks in concrete near Richmond then a gap where it
goes from three tracks to two tracks, then more concrete, and the rest
is still to be done. You get a good look in the morning on a direct
Flinders Street train from Platform 1 at Richmond (especially when it
goes nice and slow) or the footbridge over the railway from MCG to
Melbourne Park (either footbridge is good). 1256 characters
