Was the person realy in the four foot.  I witnessed an incident at Penrith
about 15 years ago where a person trying to jump onto a moving train
(U set) missed the door and went down between the platform and train in
the gap between two carriages.
The platform edge overhung the face and the person survived as they
ended up in this little gap. The driver slammed the brakes on and the train
pulled up in about a carriage length.

Every one was amazed when the person climbed back up with no serious
injuries.  His ordeal was not over however, the driver was in a highly
emotional state and after a few heated words punched the victim's nose.
