It appears that the roads from Platforms 22 and 23 merge THEN there is a set
of facing points for the Down NS line. Why? Surely this creates a
bottleneck- a down East Hills/Bankstown train cannot depart until an NS
train has cleared the facing points, and vice-versa. Why not have the Down
NS coming straight off Pl 23, with a new crossover Down IL to Down NS? This
would (with the existing crossover Down NS to Down IL) allow a "dead" train
to be bypassed. It seems they've save ONE set of points at some cost in
operational efficiency.
