Is it maybe because on Sat afternoon and Sunday, St. Kilda Beach is (or was) a
favoured destination for leisure pastimes activities. This is a good example of
a service operating (instead of the intersection transfers) to suit the
patronage and relates to the discussion re the re-commencement of the route 77
now that Batman Avenue is no more.
