Took me a while, but i found it in "Australian Railway Journeys" Collins,
1985,
compiled by John Cook. (Though it's the sort of thing i would have
expected
to find in something written by Colin Taylor...)
Originally "Auf die schwa`bsche Eisebahne" (umlaut over the "a")
Orally transmitted German folksong from the Upper Burnett

Bogan-tugan, Rollingstone
Mungar, Murgon, Marathon(e)
Guthalungra, Pinkenba,
Wanko, Yaamba - ha, ha, ha!
Pies and coffee, baths and showers
Are supplied at Charters Towers
At Mackay etc the rule prevails
Of restricting showers to males.....
> Chorus
Males and females, high and dry
Hang around a Durikai,
Boora-Mugga, Djarawong,
Giligulgul, Wonglepong

Not a bad recollection at all, Derick.
